I’ve been thinking about zooming out…

Lately, I’ve been thinking about zooming out—stepping back, shifting perspective, and viewing life through a wider lens. I’ve found this practice both grounding and enlightening, especially when the day-to-day details start to feel overwhelming or when I feel stuck in a thought loop.

We live in a world that encourages hyper-focus on the immediate. Deadlines, expectations, and constant notifications keep our attention tethered to the present moment—not always in a healthy way. There’s pressure to solve every problem immediately, understand every emotion, and make decisions instantly. And sometimes in the middle of everything, it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture—exactly where zooming out may be helpful.

Zooming out can help us gain a fresh perspective—see the forest instead of just the trees. We can notice patterns and gain awareness that what may feel like a crisis at the moment may simply be a small part of a bigger growth process—and that this moment—however significant it may feel right now—is part of a much bigger picture and a much larger journey. Rather than getting caught up in the immediate stressors or challenges, it’s a way of reminding ourselves that life is full of cycles and seasons—moments of joy, beauty, struggle, and calm—all coexisting.

Zooming out can also help us notice how far we’ve come, even when it feels like we’re not where we want to be. It reminds us that we’re evolving, learning, and growing at our own pace and that no single moment defines us.

My invitation to you is that whenever you feel overwhelmed, stuck, or too close to the details of life—pause… take a d-e-e-p breath… step back… look at life as a whole… value relationships… ask the bigger questions like, ‘Will this matter in the grand scheme of my life?’
