I’ve Been Thinking About Death…

I’ve been thinking about death…

Yes, I’ve been thinking about death… and more importantly, death is helping me think about life.

Recently a family member passed on from this earthly life -- unexpectedly, tragically. And the ripples of that passing are strong and far-reaching… waves hitting immediate family, and rippling out to other relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors, community members, and so on…

The far-reaching effects of this life’s abrupt ending are indeed helping me think about life. I’ve been thinking about the moments I have, we have, each day. Moments to soften our hearts, to embrace the life we have now, to reach out and open rather than protect and close, to pay attention and notice, to act with love, kindness, and curiosity instead of judgment, to take the trip, to connect with family and friends, and to live life on purpose with purpose and intention.

Along with thinking about death and life, I am asking myself two questions: - “Death, how will you have me live today?” - “Life what will you have me learn today?”

Something to think about -- How might death have you live today? How might death, and the perspective that we only have this moment, have you live differently?
